There’s a reason RM recommends the Backcountry as the best place to start on your Russell journey. I didn’t listen. I have more than my fair share of Russell’s. Oneida’s, Chukka’s, and boots. I love them all and I’m glad I have every pair. But Backcountry’s are a great place to start. They are a fantastic all around boot. I purchased mine on the ready to ship page. Basic build. Walnut Timberjack and Roccia. If you find the Roccia too hard on your feet, add the supplied insoles. Worked wonders for me. Thanks RMC!

I love this stuff for all my work boots. Good conditioning and water resistance properties.

These are great for a little more cushion and a little more volume take-up. I also use them on my 55 last work boots, they work well for those, too.

The bullhide bottoms are thick and quiet. Wore them walking across pointed rocks and no foot pain noted. Trust the guide and order half a size down, I ordered TTS and the mocs are a bit larger than I would desire as I think they are wonderfully comfortable without socks. That said, the cutaway lacing does provide you the opportunity to adjust the fit to your desire.

I've had it almost a year now and have had zero stretch or wear on it. Great belt, traditional good looks, heavy construction!

Just got my Backcountrys in sage chamois and they're the most comfortable boots I have ever had and felt amazing right out of the box and they're beautiful.

Cheap they are not, but if you can afford it it's worth the wait to get them made.

usually no matter the brand always buy these Tongue Savers from Russell Moccasins, I always put them in my Chukkas Boots because of how short the tongues are in most Chukkas boots, to me they make a world of difference in funtion and adds some contrast if you go with different styles of leathers…

Worked great

I ordered these at the peak of the volume issues so I had a six month wait and it was worth every second! Absolutely love these boots. They are already in the number one spot in my rotation. The Backcountry is an absolutely perfect boot. Wearing to the office, New England grouse hunting, or hike, it's perfect. Don't sleep on the Backcountry!

I've had the Joe's PH from Russell Moccasin for just over a week now, and I'm genuinely amazed. The model is currently out of Russell's catalog, but the Safari is close enough that anything I say here should translate. Mine is the stock build, no customization, in sage chamois.

Ordering. Order to delivery was 4.5 months. I emailed Russell for a status update at the 3-month and 4-month marks, and Luke, the CEO, personally responded to the second one. Great experience overall, exactly the kind of touch you hope for from a small American maker.

Build & Leather. The workmanship is second to none: neat, detailed, just about perfect. The sage chamois manages to be durable while staying flexible and soft right out of the box. The Vibram 360 sole has a low drop, so I can feel almost everything underfoot, close to a barefoot-shoe sensation but with real boot construction around it. They're also remarkably quiet to walk in, which is something Russell markets and actually delivers on.

Sizing & Fit. I'm a 9.5D on the Brannock and went with a 9D. I didn't think my feet were particularly narrow, but apparently they're skinnier than I gave them credit for, so I picked up a pair of Kelties from Russell in the same leather to fill the boots out. The leather varies a bit batch to batch, but the match is close enough. Lacing technique matters more than you'd think; after watching Russell's video on it, the fit dialed in even better.

Break-In. About a day. No joke. For comparison, my Grant Stones still feel like they need more breaking in after years of mild wear.

Use Case. Full disclosure: I wear these around town, which isn't really what they were built for. The Joe's PH / Safari is a hunting and outdoor boot at heart, so I can't speak to how they perform in the field. But as a daily town boot they've been excellent.

Warm Weather. Living in SoCal, the single vamp has been a pleasant surprise, almost cooling in the heat. I haven't tried a double vamp, but for our climate the single seems ideal.

Verdict. I love these boots and can absolutely see another pair in my future.

I've wanted a pair of Russell Moccasins for a while and finally pulled the trigger this year. Fantastic build quality. Comfortable out of the box. Spendy, but worth it. I'll own these forever.

I wasn't able to get in on this Collab drop when it happened, also had not experienced Russell Mocs or found my perfect size. Imagine my surprise when a single pair pops up on the main site, Ready to Ship, in exactly the size i would order for this top tier model.

These are truly lifetime boots, with a build quality second to none but another Russell! They fit snugly first try with the provided insoles to provide a bit of comfort and while the laces aren't as long as i would like, that is purely preference and easily remedied.

These are expensive. Not gonna lie, it was a stretch even for someone who knows and adores Russells, but when i was thinking about investing in my own pair of Big Cambo boots, the price on these makes a bit more sense, plus there were only about 50 pairs made, so in all likelihood, i will never meet another pair of these out in the world.

Worth Every Penny. Hardy design built to last the rest of your life.

Bought Gustin's with the Oxford Sole in Black Timberjack from the Ready to Wear page. I'm very happy with them. I wouldn't have ordered black myself, but I really do like the look. Especially with some RA Blood Core laces and kilties. They are subtle but pop! Also, I wouldn't have ordered the Oxford Sole, but I'm pleasantly surprised.
